Northern housing association Karbon Homes has appointed Gillian Roll as its new assistant director of Strategy and Insight.

Reporting directly to the executive director of Growth and Business Development, Gillian will lead on the development and implementation of Karbon’s group vision and strategy.

She will also be leading the development and delivery of Karbon’s Place strategy, augmenting thinking on the role that Karbon can play in strengthening the Foundational Economy in areas where it has a large number of homes and acts as an anchor institution.

Speaking about her appointment, Gillian said: “I was inspired to join Karbon Homes due to its focus on its role as an anchor institution, placing customers and communities at the heart of its strategy.

“Karbon has a very strong reputation among regional stakeholders, as well as the sector more widely.

“Karbon’s Fair Foundations place shaping agenda is driving innovative multi-sector approaches in communities, underpinned by robust academic evidence.

“Over the next year, I look forward to driving this work, as well ensuring that our business strategy continues to be relevant in a fast-changing external landscape.”

Gillian spent the last nine years as head of Strategy at Home Group.

Prior to that, Gillian worked in economic development, with experience in both the Regional Development Agency and Local Enterprise Partnership in the north-east.

She’s also worked within local authority and voluntary sector organisations in the region, and is currently a trustee of Citizens Advice Newcastle.
