Procure Plus is hosting a free conference in Manchester for landlords wanting to lead the low-carbon transition in social housing, as part of the Homes as Energy Systems (HAES) project.
Taking place on 26 April, the event – ‘Homes as Energy Systems – Enabling Low Carbon Investments in Social Housing’ -will be chaired by Housing Digital editor Liam Turner.
It will focus on the practical steps that landlords can take to improve the viability of net-zero and decarbonisation projects.
Attendees will hear from a range of expert speakers, including a keynote speech form John Allison, deputy director for Net Zero Buildings Strategy at the new Department of Energy and Climate Change.
This session will outline the UK’s landscape for clean heating, setting up a panel to discuss the findings from the ongoing HAES project.
The second keynote speaker will be Wendy Osborn, senior customer engagement manager for CITB, the training board for the construction sector.
This session will focus on how the industry can attract talent and support skills development to build a workforce that can rise to the challenges ahead.
The free event will start at 9am at the Mercure Hotel, Piccadilly, Manchester, and is for anyone working on decarbonisation, energy, asset management, and retrofit projects for housing associations or local authorities.

Led by Procure Plus and funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the HAES project brings together two GM social landlords and other regional institutions and businesses to overcome the energy ‘trilemma’ of growing electricity demand, increased intermittent renewable energy generation, and a local energy network already under stress, which the GM city region faces today.
Procure Plus is a Housing Digital Stakeholder and a social housing regeneration consortium that generates efficiencies by leveraging the procurement of construction materials and contractors.
