Lucy Frazer, the MP for South East Cambridgeshire, has been appointed as the new minister of state for Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities.

Frazer, who assumed the role last month, will serve under Michael Gove, who has been reappointed as Housing secretary following his unceremonious sacking by Boris Johnson in the summer.

In a tweet, Frazer said: “Delighted to have been asked by Rishi Sunak to join the luhc [Levelling Up, Housing, and Communities] team. I am very much looking forward to working with Michael Gove, the ministerial team and civil servants.”

Frazer previously served as minister of state at the Department for Transport, a role she held from 7 September to 26 October.

She takes over from Lee Rowley, who served in the role for just 44 days.

Rowley remains in the department as a parliamentary under secretary.

There have now been 14 different Housing ministers since the Conservatives came to power in 2010.
